Give yourself a present!

Christmas and Hanukkah are over and you've shopped 'til you dropped for everyone else! Now it's time to get yourself a present - a trip to San Diego for the 2016 Wagner 75-80 Reunion!

It's just 6 months away and this chance to see your Wagner pals will be here before you know it. Organizing a reunion of this size is a big undertaking and we're not sure when this will happen again, so take advantage of this rare opportunity to get together with the few people who truly know what it's like to be a military brat and walked the halls with you at Wagner!

Click for pricing info and the Wagner Reunion registration form

One of the great things about past reunions (for me anyway) has been the chance to get to better know many of my classmates that I didn't know well in high school. Or thought I knew, but didn't really. Or realized how we've all gone through a lot in life and are much more appreciative of each other all these years down the road.

So, check out the list of the folks who have either already committed to coming or are very sure they will be there and join us! For those that haven't put in a deposit yet, here's the form to do so.  We have a whole host of people that want to come but are waiting for their schedules to firm up before committing - you know how those pilots are!

If you want to pay in full, we will be having our last drawing Friday, February 19th, 2016, for a free upgrade to a suite for those that do so. All entries must be received by Thursday, February 18th, to be eligible for the drawing.

Click here for the hotel reservations at our fantastic room rate of $149/night for the nights of the reunion. There are no more rooms available for the nights before or after the reunion at our discounted rate.  Don't forget to reserve your room! It costs nothing now and we want to make sure you have one - July is a popular tourist time in San Diego.

The hotel will try to accommodate special requests (please call them directly) and will do their best to try and put people in rooms next to each other if possible, but cannot guarantee that it will happen.

So, what are you waiting for? Get your registration form in to us! If you want to be on our mailing list, send us an email at wagner75.80reunion at gmail dot com. For more information about the hotel and transportation, check out this previous post.

And keep your eyes peeled to this blog for an upcoming t-shirt sale and posting stuff from our archives after the new year.

We hope to see you in San Diego - the Reunion Committee: Gigi Hensley McCombe, Valerie Moore Andrews, Nina Pierce Baker & Teri Self Hamilton.

We Have a Winner!

Over 100 people have committed to coming to the reunion so far!! The folks that sent in their full registration fee by the deadline were eligible to be in the drawing for a free room during the reunion.

Gigi had one of her students draw the name of the lucky winner and we're happy to report that the lucky winner is ....

 ROY THELIN, '76 !!

Although, by default, Debbie Faires Thelin is a winner too as they are now a married couple! Congrats to Roy and Debbie - not only for winning the drawing, but for reconnecting all these years later and finding love again!

Here's a photo from their recent wedding. Make sure you say Happy Anniversary at the reunion as they will be celebrating their first right after our gathering!

Here's the video of the drawing:

Here's the reunion attendee list (as of 9/10/15) of all those that have committed to coming (in Bold) separated by class and those who have told us they are coming but haven't registered yet.

So far, the class of '77 is in the lead, with the classes of '76 and '78 coming in second. So come on all those from the classes of 75, 79, & 80!!  The opportunity to get together with your Wagner classmates doesn't come along every day. Register for the reunion and make your hotel reservations!!

Don't Miss Out on the Chance for a Free Room!

There are only two weeks left!!

All those that send their total reunion fee in by the end of the month (postmarked by August 31st, 2015) will be eligible for a drawing to win two free hotel nights at the San Diego Sheraton during the reunion.

The reunion fee is $350 per person and covers the Friday night cocktail reception, the Saturday Dinner/Dance and the Farewell Brunch on Sunday. Click link for the registration form.

Please make your hotel reservations now as we want to ensure that you have a room at the hotel during the reunion. We got a great room rate of $149/night for our group - the regular rate at that time is $399/night - so you'll want to get those reservations in ASAP!

Remember, you can hold the room with your credit card, but it doesn't charge it until you stay. The hotel will allow us to book rooms prior to the reunion at the same rate (contact Nina if you would like that option). Unfortunately, rooms after the reunion (after July 3rd) are no longer available. For hotel and transporation information, see the previous post.

Click link to make your reservations.

If you haven't given us your contact information, please fill out this quick survey. We will be sending out a newsletter soon on a regular basis to keep you informed, so we'll need your email address.

We have a lot of folks who have already committed to attending and many more who say they will be there. We will be posting an updated attendance list soon.

Don't miss out on this opportunity to hang out with your Wagner classmates and enjoy all that the beautiful city of San Diego has to offer!

Calling all Wagner High 75-80 Alumni!

It's hard to believe that the Washington D.C. Reunion was in 2011. Time has flown by and it's time to start planning the 2016 Wagner 75-80 Reunion.

Gigi Hensley McCombe, Valerie Moore Andrews, Teri Self Hamilton and Nina Pierce Baker (all '77) have volunteered to take on the organization of the next big reunion.

There have been mentions of several options: another weekend in a major stateside city, a cruise, or an all-inclusive resort in the Caribbean or Mexico.

Some folks get seasick. Some don't have passports. So, we opted to investigate several major cities that were easily accessible to everyone and that most everyone would enjoy visiting. Since the majority of our alumni live in California and Texas, we looked at Austin and San Diego.

We decided to keep the reunion the same weekend (4th of July) that it's been the past few times as that seems to work out well for most people. We also decided on San Diego since that would make the organization easier for the Reunion Committee.

Before we commit to signing any contracts, we'd like to know who all would be interested in coming and whether you would be willing to plunk down a $50.00 non-refundable deposit. The $50 deposit is to put toward the $5,000 deposit that the hotel requires to hold the date and the rooms, and will be credited toward your total reunion fee.

This is what we're looking at right now - a three day event from July 1 through July 3, 2016.

July 1-3, 2016
Friday - Sunday
San Diego, CA
Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina
Approximate Reunion Fee = $350 per person
Approximate hotel room cost  = $150/night

We chose the Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina due to its location right on the Harbor, a great room rate, the free airport shuttle, and the easy accessiblity to downtown via the Big Bay Shuttle.

We're thinking of having a 3-day versus 4-day event and trying to keep the expenses as low as possible.

If you're interested in coming, please take the time to fill out this quick survey, so we can get a handle on the numbers involved and who is interested. Although this is a reunion of our 75-80 group, any Wagner Alumni and staff who are friends may attend as well.

Also, many of my email addresses are out of date, so please forward this to any alumni you know that may be interested in attending.

Time is flying by and some of our group are no longer with us - LET'S MAKE THIS HAPPEN!
